Posted in Beer Events on June 24, 2011 by RattleNHumBar

This is not an event too be missed, come and enjoy an array of single hop brews from the Mikkeller single hop serie.
Hops are actually the female flowering cones of the vining hop plant, Humulus lupulus. Hops are delicate, little pinecones and YES they are in the Cannabis family, yup 1st cousins to Mr. Pot!
Anyway Mikkel has used his brewing skills to create this series of hoppy beers to give us and the world an idea of how ech hop tastes, as you know many IPA’s and other brews are made with many varieties of hops, not these ones!

Hope to see you all here,
Patrick and crew

The Single Hop series includes:
Mt. Hood
Sorachi Ace
Super Galena

Pere Jacques:-Belgian Style Abbey Ale A wonderfully fruity, malty ale with complex flavors Brewed with Belgian yeast,  and  stand shoulder to shoulder with  Belgian Dubbels. 8% ABV

Honkers- Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again. 4.2% abv

IPA A hop lover’s dream This classic pale ale featuring an inviting spicy hop aroma and fruity flavor, set off by a dry malt middle that ensures that the long hop finish won’t soon be forgotten. 5.9% abv

312 URBAN WHEAT -Its spicy aroma of Cascade hops is followed by a crispy, fruity ale flavor that’s delivered in a smooth, creamy body not like any other beer but it is certainly no less than you’d expect. 4.2% abv

Bourbon County Stout – Dark and dense intense flavors. A beer that’s perfect when enjoyed on its own or with a fine robust cigar. Aged in bourbon barrel 8 months to a year 13% ABV

Bourbon County Vanilla –13% abv each year at the festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer in Chicago, drinkers enjoy hundreds of wood aged beers. Poured  at the2009 fest, and drinkers loved it so much .I hope you enjoy it as well. Cheers!

Scully –9% abv White Pepper Strawberry Saison Inspired by an amuse bouche often prepared by one of our Brewer’s wifes; Scully brings white pepper, strawberry, and honey to a harmonious blend.   The ingredients are added at different stages to a Saison, and fermented with normal Belgian yeast as well as Champagne yeast.  One of our favorite brews of the past year with many levels of complexity and character.

Minx- 9% A Belgian Style IPA with a fruity hop aroma. This IPA has a deep red color and tart body. Very different from most IPA’s Minx has the ability to change its flavor to be either sweet, sour or a flat out devilish MINX!!!

Samovar-  5%ABV – Dark Smoked Wheat Ale with Russian Black Tea Samovar is a dark wheat ale brewed with a small percentage of smoked malt.  The beer is fermented with our house Ale yeast then is blended with a smoked Russian Black Tea.

Big John – 11.5%  Inspired by the epic skyline of Chicago, Big John; a tall, bold slugger of a stout with Epic amounts of roasted malt and an addition of cacoa nibs give Big John a massive chocolate flavor and aroma. With a body as substantial and black as the building to which it pays homage, Big John is sure to inspire a sense of awe with each sip.

Raspberry Sasion – 6.5 % ABV  Brewed with the Saison and farmhouse ales of Belgium in mind, we added fresh Raspberries and  Brettanomyces to a wine barrel and aged the Saison base for 9 months.

Fleur– 5.2 % ABV. A Belgian style pale ale blended with hibiscus and kombucha tea, Fleur is a beautiful, rose-colored ale with an aroma of strawberries and hibiscus flowers. Her flavor balance starts with a hint of sweet, ripe berry and finishes tart.

Dominique  – 9.5 % ABV A brew of epic proportions, we aged a sour Belgian Ale brewed with Lactobacill us in freshly used Bourbon Barrels.  The heat of the alcohol plays out a battle with the acidity from the Lacto.

Indira  – 7 % ABV earthy and spicy farmhouse ale brewed with Lemongrass and Lemon Thyme in the Brew kettle.

Demolition – 7.2 % ABV Brewed to honor the brave souls who kept our brewpub open in the early 90’s while wrecking balls tore down the mall around us. Dry and smooth, with a grassy, citrus aroma and honey malt middle.

Lolita   – 7% ABV  Lolita is a pink rose colored Belgian Style pale ale fermented with wild yeast and aged on raspberries in wine barrels. Aromas of fresh raspberries, bright jammy fruit flavors and effervescent body make Lolita an ideal beer to suggest to beer drinkers fond of Belgian Framboise.

American Brown – 5.6% abv. The American Brown is a mild ale with a touch of rye. Toffee Brown, Medium- bodied, with a creamy head, aromas of raisins and freshly baked dark bread. Our American brown is a delicious treat that will warm the soul and liven up the evening with friends!
