Founders KBS
On Tuesday night, April 10, we’ll be serving not one but two rare species of beer: Founders KBS (in bottle) and Southern Tier Pumking Ale (op tap). We’ll start serving them at 5:00 pm.
Founders KBS is “an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish.”
Southern Tier Pumking Ale is described by RateBeer thusly: “As spicy aromas present themselves, let it’s deep copper color entrance you as your journey into this mystical brew has just begun. As the first drops touch your tongue a magical spell will bewitch your taste buds making it difficult to escape the Pumking.”

Bruce Springsteen on Tour
Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band come to Madison Square Garden on Friday, April 6 and Monday, April 9.
“The Boss” has been a legend for nearly four decades, first and foremost among them is his concerts. Word on the street is that not event the loss of “The Big Man,” saxophonist Clarence Clemons, is slowing him down, and indeed may be inspiring the whole band.
What’s your all-time favorite Bruce show?
Many point to this show at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1975, a copy of which was distributed in 2005 with the 30th anniversary edition of Born to Run.
For our money, we’d give anything to have seen live Bruce’s performance during the legendary No Nuke Shows at Madison Square Garden in 1979.
To be honest, we can’t argue with the characterization of this as the best-ever performance of Rosalita, in the Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ in 1978.
Enough nostalgia! Many are saying this Wrecking Ball tour is the best Bruce and the Band have been in many years; it seems especially true when he pulls some chestnuts from the catalog, such as this rendition of Talk to Me.

The RBS 6 Nations Rugby tournament comes to an end tomorrow, fittingly on St. Patrick’s Day, with Ireland playing England at 1:00 pm NY time.
6 Nations is a prestigious tournament that generates intense interest among fans in the participating nations. Each teams plays every other team over the course of five, non-consecutive weeks, with a point system determining the winner.
Rattle N Hum will be open early, at 8:00 am tomorrow, and will be showing the match live. We’ll have traditional Irish breakfast, and other Irish favorites all day long. Oh, we also have forty kegs on tap. Clearly, we’re the best bar in NYC to watch Ireland vs. England in 6 Nations Rugby.

Who is St. Patrick? Why does he have a day and a parade named after him?
Patrick was born in Great Britain in the late fourth century. When he was 16, he was captured by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland, where he worked as a shepherd and drew close to God. “I used to pasture the flock each day and I used to pray many times a day,” he wrote. “More and more did the love of God, and my fear of him and faith increase.”
After six years in Ireland, he escaped. He was reunited with his family, but a dream urged him to return to Ireland. Patrick spent the ensuing years training to be a priest. He returned to Ireland around 432 A.D. to begin preaching Christianity to the predominantly pagan population. He played a significant role in converting the majority of Ireland’s population.
The first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the US was held in Boston in 1737. In NYC, they’ve only been holding them since 1762.
